P.R. DOGz Training

Welcome to P.R. DOGz Clicker Training

I am Coral Atnikov and I have been a Clicker Trainer for 10 years. I was introduced to Clicker Training when I adopted my dog Tess from the Humane Society. They were offering Clicker Training class so I enrolled. Prior to this I had never heard of Clicker Training, and my only other training experience was 'traditional' training methods using a pinch collar and leash corrections.

After some initial skepticism, I completely embraced this new training method when I saw how eager Tess was to play the 'training game.' My previous dog (traditionally trained) never got enthusiastic about the training process. Rather than being something he enjoyed doing, he seemed to just want to get it over with.

Before adopting Tess, I had decide to get involved training dogs, but was unable to accomplish this goal when I realized there was nowhere to learn the skill of dog training in my Province, let alone my city. But when I voiced my interest to the class instructor she suggested I apprentice with her.

After my apprenticeship program, I was offered the opportunity to take over her classes and I jumped at the chance.

My apprenticeship program was just the beginning of my education, and ten years later I am still teaching, still learning, and still fascinated with dog training!

Below are the classes available with P.R.DOGz clicker training. Not all classes are offered at all times, so please contact me at  DOGZ@sasktel.net if you would like to register or receive more information on any of the classes.

Classes

You are all busy people and there are a lot of demands on your time; that is why I feel  if you are going to commit the time, energy and money to train your dog, you should get as much from your training class as possible. To that end, I limit the size of my classes to small groups so that everyone gets one-on-one time with the instructor each and every class.

You will also receive written homework assignments and  information handouts at the end of every class. When the session is over the combined information in these handouts forms a valuable reference for for future training and review.

I look forward to working with you and your dog, and helping you get (through training) the dog you've always wanted.

Group Puppy *NEW*

This class is for puppies aged  4 months and younger. The class will focus on socialization with other dogs, people and experiences. The importance of socialization in young puppies is paramount to their behavior as adult dogs.

This class does not run in sessions, you can register and start the class at any time by joining the existing group. The registration fee for this class is $100.00.

Manners

The fundamentals of CLICKER TRAINING will be taught by learning basic manners. You will teach your dog how to: sit, lie down, stay, come when called, walk nicely on a loose leash, take something politely, go to your mat, and leave something when asked . This class is a prerequisite for all other group classes.

Beyond Basics

Once you have completed the ‘Manners’ class you can go Beyond the Basics and take your training to a higher level.

Agility

Obstacle Course fun! Teach your dog how to safely maneuver a variety of obstacles such as jumps, tunnels, and teeters, and then put your new skills together and complete an obstacle course.

Jump-Start Leash Program

The Jump-Start program is made for people who are unable to get their dogs out for walks due to behavior problems. Most dogs could use a little help with their leash manners, but if your dog pulls so much that it is unsafe for you, or others, while out walking you may benefit from the Jump-Start Leash program.
Your dog has learned, through repetition that his behavior on leash works. If he pulls, he has learned that pulling gets him where he wants to go. If he has aggressive displays, he has learned that that will keep the scary things away.

Your dog can learn another way of behaving while on leash. The hardest part is teaching him that the old way isn’t going to work anymore, and showing him what to do instead. Once he understands that, then it’s just a matter of rewarding him for using the new behavior instead of the old.

The Jump-Start Leash program takes the difficult time of readjustment and puts it in the trainer’s hands.
The Trainer will take your dog outside on leash and teach him a new, better way of behaving. Once the dog has learned the new behavior, the owner will take over with the training program.

This program is ideal for: - large, strong dogs who pull very hard

- owners with physical ailments that make walking a rambunctious dog dangerous for their health
-dogs who show aggressive displays while on-leash

After a consultation to analyze your needs, recommendations for your program will be made.

Private Consultations

Private consultations are a great training option for people whose schedules make it difficult to attend regular weekly classes, for those who have difficulty getting out of the house, or for those who need help in one or two specific areas. Private consultations are also recommended for people whose dogs may need extra help with specific behavior issues, that wouldn’t normally get covered in group classes.

P.R.DOGz training offers different options when choosing private consultations. All private consultations are done in the dog’s home. Not only is this more convenient for the owners, it also leads to better insight and information gathering when dealing with your dogs behavior problems.

Every dog starts out with the initial 2-hour consultation and 1-hr follow up lesson, after which a recommendation for further lessons may be made.
